About Hope, Purpose and Connection: Building Well-Being & Resiliency: This group, in support of therapists in the ongoing clinical and societal challenges for/with clients, meets ethical standards of responding to vicarious trauma and enriching therapist well-being in order to provide optimal clinical interventions and maintain healthy perspective on their works.

Explore the impact of collective and interpersonal trauma on the clinician and their work.

Learn skills to mitigate the negative impact of the work and amplify the positive.

Practice evidence-supported strategies to build resilience.
Materials to be used:
We will incorporate resources and/or articles on vicarious and collective trauma, as well as mindfulness. These will be shared free of charge.
About the Instructors:
Lisa A. Tieszen, M.A., LICSW, is Co-Founder & Director of Resilience Works. She has consulted to projects including the Vicarious Trauma Toolkit (VTT), Vicarious Trauma Response Initiative (VTRI), and Expanding Health Center Awareness of Sexual Assault-Related Health Care Needs. Lisa spent over 35 years in healthcare, developing programs for those impacted by trauma. Since 2000, her work has focused on the well-being of staff who work with those who have experienced suffering and trauma. Her focus has been on those professionals in the fields of advocacy, healthcare, law, and law enforcement, providing training and consultation, to strengthen their resilience and overall health, with an emphasis on trauma-informed principles. Lisa has a clinical practice in Brookline, MA.
Katherine Manners, M.Ed., LMFT (she/her) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice, where she works exclusively with couples. In addition, she provides therapy for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one to homicide. She also offers crisis intervention counseling and critical incident debriefings.
Katherine is the Co-Director and Founder of Resilience Works, delivering training, technical assistance, and consultation to victim service agencies, law enforcement, medical professionals, legal teams, and crisis responder programs nationwide. With over 30 years of experience, she is recognized as a leading expert in trauma-informed care, vicarious trauma, and staff wellness.
POLICY DISCLOSURES & PARTICIPANT EXPECTATIONS
This activity has been pre-certification by the New England Association for Family and Systemic Therapy (NEAFAST) on behalf of the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health & Human Services Professions for LMFT professional continuing education.
This activity may be retroactively approved for CEs for Massachusetts LMHCs at https://www.mamhca.org/page-18363
This activity is not pre-certified for continuing education for Massachusetts LCSW/LICSWs.
Please note: It is the participant’s responsibility to check with their individual state boards to verify CE requirements for their state.
Attendance Policy: All participants seeking continuing education credit must attend the entire program. NEAFAST may, in cases of medical emergencies or other extenuating circumstances, offer partial credit if 80% of the overall credit hours were completed. Please speak to the instructor/facilitator as soon as possible about this if necessary. Those attending as a free member benefit should still plan to attend all meetings to optimize learning and cohesion for all group members.
