2025 Directory Update Instructions

The Membership Committee has been working hard on revamping our members profiles and the NEAFAST directory. We are close to launching the new directory but we need you to do your part and update your profile

Keep reading to understand what is different and what this means for you and your information.

What’s new in profiles?

Areas of practice - We condensed some categories and added selections that were not available before (e.g., trauma, consensual non-monogamy).

Degree - We created a new category to separate your degree (e.g., MA, PhD) from your license (e.g., LMFT, Licensed Psychologist).

Licensed in - While based in Massachusetts, NEAFAST aims to represent relational therapists across New England. Moreover, the number of clinicians who are licensed in more than one state is increasing. In light of this, you can now specify which states you are licensed in.

Modality - You can more clearly indicate whether you offer individual therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, and/or group therapy.

Insurance - Given that insurance companies (and our relationships to them) are ever evolving, we simplified this attribute. Members can now broadly select whether they work with commercial plans or public plans (or private pay only) and then specify (in their own words) the particular plans they are contracted with (BCBS, MGBH public plans, MGBH commercial plans, Medicare, etc).

What is the NEAFAST directory?

One of the benefits of NEAFAST membership is having your profile listed on our public facing directory. The directory is accessible from our website (About > Therapist Directory) and can be a great way for potential clients and colleagues looking for a relational therapist to find you. Folks can search by location, gender, modality, areas of practice, certification, insurance, and licensure state. Please note that only practicing members (i.e., clinical members, clinical specialists, post-graduate/pre-licensed members) have the option to be listed in the profile.

What information shows up in the directory?

The directory pulls information directly from your profile. Whatever changes you make to your profile will affect how you appear in the directory. Here is a template for what the public will see when browsing the directory:

Given the changes we made to the back end of our website, not updating your profile at this time will result in a fragmented template with missing information.

What if I am a non-practicing member?

While only practicing clinicians have the option to be listed on the public facing directory, ALL members can see each other in the Member Directory. The Member Directory is accessible when you are logged into your profile and cannot be accessed by the public. Students are encouraged to use the About Me section to share information about themselves that is not captured elsewhere (e.g., university program).

What if I don’t want my profile listed in the directory?

In order for a profile to appear in the NEAFAST directory, members need to opt in by answering that question in their profile. Members who do not answer that question are essentially opting out of the directory as those profiles will not be visible in the search results. Please note that opting out of the public facing directory does not opt you out of the Member Directory.

How do I update my profile?

Log in at www.neafast.org or follow this link. Clicking on My Profile (under the grassy image) will bring you to your profile where you can edit your information and choose answers/selections for newly added items. Please take a moment to opt in/out of the public facing directory. If you are a postgraduate/pre-licensed or licensed member, this is also a good opportunity to make sure the information you have listed on your profile (e.g., address, email, phone number) is information you are comfortable with the public having access to. If you have forgotten your username or password, please email us at [email protected].

Do I need to upload profile photo?

Uploading a photograph to your profile is optional. However, putting a face to the name is helpful both for members to build a sense of community and for the public to know who we are.
