INDIVIDUAL RETROACTIVE MFT CEU APPLICANTS: 

We encourage individual applicants to advocate for sponsors to include LMFTs in their CE offerings. In cases where they have not, NEAFAST strives to approve qualifying individual retroactive applications in a timely manner to ensure clinicians have ample time to prepare for renewal. NEAFAST retroactive CE application review stops on December 15th and resumes January 1st of each year. It is applicants’ responsibility to monitor for approval and apply for an application extension with the Board of Allied Mental Health and Human Services as needed. 

Trainings provided by the AAMFT DO NOT require submission through the retroactive MFT CEU program. All other providers must apply individually for LMFT CE Approval. If a training has been pre-approved, your certificate will state the program has been approved by NEAFAST for LMFT Continuing Education in Massachusetts, and will provide a nine digit CE approval number. If your training does not say this, but says it is eligible for X number of MFT CEUs, it has NOT been approved by Massachusetts for CE Credit. NEAFAST recommends that all LMFTs confirm that an individual program not provided by NEAFAST or the AAMFT has been approved prior to taking the training; all trainings not pre-approved must be submitted for retroactive CE credits. 

INDIVIDUAL RETROACTIVE FEES AND REQUIREMENTS:

All individuals applying for retroactive CEUs MUST complete the retroactive CE application to ensure criteria have been met for approval. For more information about approval criteria for programs please click here and for general information about license renewal please click here. All trainings must meet ethical and legal standards as published by the AAMFT Code of Ethics and Massachusetts Board of Allied Mental Health and Human Services.

Clinicians may submit up to 5 separate activities per application. In the case of single events that provide multiple separate CE certificates for subsections of the training, each portion of the training will need to be submitted as an event to allow for a full review of all portions of the training.

Please allow 6 weeks for processing of all CE’s and 3 weeks for expedited applications.

NEAFAST CANNOT GUARANTEE EXPEDITED APPLICATIONS WILL BE APPROVED OR APPROVED PRIOR TO RENEWAL DEADLINES.

Please review the above criteria carefully as NEAFAST does not offer refunds for application fees in circumstances where programs are rejected for not meeting the continuing education requirements.
