IPV, which includes both domestic violence (DV) and sexual assault (SA), presents challenges for clinicians working with affected individuals or couples. The group will adopt a three-pronged approach, focusing on: education on screening for and addressing IPV, case discussion, and reflection on the impact of this work on providers. Clinicians will receive updated, evidence-based information on how to screen for IPV, understand the dynamics of abusive relationships, and implement appropriate intervention strategies. This educational component aims to increase clinicians' confidence in addressing IPV. Participants will also engage in case discussions, working collaboratively to develop strategies for supporting clients within these complex dynamics. Clinicians will be encouraged to reflect on the emotional toll of working with IPV survivors, with special attention given to how this work can affect their own sexual and romantic relationships. Strategies for managing vicarious trauma and maintaining professional well-being will also be discussed. Learning Objectives 1. Attendees will be able to identify concerns for IPV 2.Attendees will be provided with resources and tools to address concerns for IPV 3. Attendees will gain insight to the ways in which IPV cases may impact them personally This group will have no required readings but will draw on theory and research, including Jacquelyn Campbell's Danger Assessment, Gottman's theories related to situational versus characterological abuse, and the presenters' own experiences and research. The group will also adapt to incorporate additional research and tools relevant to the participants' areas of practice. Sign Up for the peer group Here!
