About "Polyvagal Informed Couple's Therapy": Polyvagal Theory has three pillars: neuroception, autonomic nervous system, and co-regulation. To incorporate Polyvagal Theory into couples’ therapy, couples therapists need to be aware of personal autonomic nervous system shifts and be grounded in the ventral vagal nervous system to co-regulate individual partners when one or both partners cannot offer co-regulation to each other. The Polyvagal Informed Couple’s Therapy peer consultation group will focus on developing clinicians’ awareness of the shift in their autonomic nervous system in their clinical work. The first part of the group consultation will explore personal autonomic profiles and self-regulation. In the second part of the group consultation, we will focus on exploring autonomic nervous system shifts when working with three different kinds of couples. In each session, we will spend about 30 minutes discussing the key concepts from reading materials or discussing questions. Then, clinicians will be paired in learning cohorts in each module to practice as clinicians, clients, or observers. Primary learning goals: 1. Gain a basic understanding of the core concepts and foundations of Polyvagal Theory. 2. Gain an understanding of the social engagement system and the importance of the 3.
