Participants will: 1. Be able to define privilege and confidential ity and understand the differences between them; 2. Be aware of the MA law and case law regarding therapeutic privilege and confidentiality for adults and children; 3. Have awareness of the ethical issues concerning confident iality and therapeutic privilege for professionals treating court involved families and their children; 4. Understand the process of seeking a waiver of therapeutic privilege for children; 5. Have an understanding of the para meters to be considered by a Guardian Ad Litem for the waiver of a child’s privilege.
