Category: CE Events: Adult Individuals

The drug culture is changing and evolving in the United States to be more challenging and more dangerous. Between the Opioid Crisis and the infusion of synthetic drugs, attempting to assist people in treatment has become a more complex task than ever before. This course will review the new diagnostic criteria in the DSM-V related to the substance use disorders as well as each of the major categories of the substances of abuse. The substances reviewed will include the narcotics, the stimulants, the sedative-hypnotics including alcohol, the hallucinogens, as well the latest designer drugs. A focus will be upon the current trend of moving away from plant based substances to fully synthetic substances and the dangers of this process.
